Video: Reduce dependency on employer-based payroll dues deductions.

How the Minnesota Nurse's Association improved negotiations

The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA), a professional organization with over 22,000 active members, faced a significant challenge. They relied on employers to collect dues from over 15,000 members via payroll deductions. This dependency put them at risk of losing an estimated $1 million monthly if employers decided to cease collections at contract expiration.

Recent legislation changes have made this risk more prominent, with states like Tennessee already passing laws prohibiting payroll deductions for union dues. This trend could disrupt traditional dues collection processes and affect a union's ability to represent and support its members effectively.

In our latest video case study, Angela Kruse, MNA's Director of Administration, explains and demonstrates how they tackled this challenge. Watch the video to learn about their proactive approach and how it could serve as a blueprint for other unions facing similar risks.
